As you walk into Gus's new quarters you will feel his happy spirit fill the room. To the left is the nurses equipment and cart. To the right is Gus's closet with his toys, books and movies. At the end of the bed we display the collection of stuffed animals for him to see. There is a couch that pulls out into a bed for mom and dad to sleep. Gus's wheel chair is ready to pull out from the corner to take him to his rehab appointments. Posters, cards, and pictures decorate his walls to remind us of all our friends and family. Socks and shoes are ready to put on couple times a day. His favorite toy tractors and cars are in arms reach. He wears a blue printed hospital gown, the kind that tie in the back.
Just two days into rehab Gus is doing things we didn't know if he would be able to again. He works hard to be stronger and gain more control over his body. Today we tested his ability to eat and drink and tomorrow Gus can order off a special hospital menu. He'll start off with thick liquids or milk. Later we can probably expand with more yummy varieties. We'll celebrate in the morning with Mickey and milk! "We've got ears, say cheers!"

I am amazed at gus's progress. Miracles do happen. I am forwarding the blog to my boys and families and some of my friends in the Growing Place group. They are all sending prayers and love.
